Recent Donations to CampWe receive many donations, big and small, throughout the year. Many choose to donate money to the Friends of Camp Albemarle in our annual funds drive, give to our campership fund when registering a child for camp, and others give us gifts of materials or supplies. Camp Albemarle can often use something that you have around your house and are not using. If you would like to donate something to Camp Albemarle, please feel free to call us. ![]() Our most recent donation was from Weyerhaeuser Corporation. If some of you were at camp many years ago, you remember "the trees." For those who were not here in those years, the whole camp used to be a forest. After Floyd and Birtha hundereds of trees were lost (due to salt spray and then pine beetles). While some have regenerated naturally, we have helped the process by planting over 2,000 seedlings over the past two years. Hopefully in the next few years these will provide shade for campers, and make the camp look better. We thank Weyerhaeuser for this donation. ![]() This past winter we have been working with the Rye Foundation. The Winston-Salem based Rye Foundation was formed in 2001 and supports Religion, Youth and Education through grants to organizations. This Srping, the Rye Foundation awarded Camp Albemarle a grant of $5,024. This gift has been used to purchase devotional materials and 142 new lifejackets. We thank the Rye Foundation for this wonderful gift. Pictured are Rev. Ingram Hedgpeth (pastor of Mt. Bethel Presbyterian Church and Rye Foundation member), J. Warren Steen (President of the Rye Foundation) and Robert Vodra (Camp Albemarle Director). |
